It is an industry requirement that CPR certification is required to be updated or renewed every 12 months, whether you are a fitness instructor or tactile therapist, or in any situation where you have a duty of care for your clients.
As part of our flexible delivery model, for those who need their qualification in a hurry or are unable to attend scheduled classes, we do offer the opportunity for 1-on-1 classes, either at our campus or your location (by approval), for additional surcharge. The CPR unit HLTAID001- Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation describes the skills and knowledge required to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines.
For those who already possess their First Aid qualifications, there is a requirement to update skills and knowledge every 12 months.
The First Aid Oz online CPR courses allow the student to view videos, read learning materials and complete assessment quiz from home, prior to coming in for practical training and assessment. Its the perfect format for those who are time poor, and can be done without taking a day off work.
This unit applies to all workers who may be required to provide basic life support in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings.
In this unit, students will learn to :
1. Respond to an emergency situation
Recognise an emergency situation
Identify, assess and minimise immediate hazards to health and safety of self and others
Assess the casualty and recognise the need for cardiopulmonary resuscitation
Seek assistance from emergency response services
2. Perform CPR procedures
Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation in accordance with ARC guidelines
Display respectful behaviour towards casualty
Operate automated external defibrillator (AED) according to manufacturer’s instructions
3. Communicate details of the incident
Accurately convey incident details to emergency response services
Report details of incident to workplace supervisor as appropriate
Maintain confidentiality of records and information in line with statutory and/or organizational policies
